How President Nixon's Top Counsellor Embraced Islam!
The late American President Nixon had a highly intellectual and brilliant counselor named Dr. Robert Dickson Crane (born March 26, 1929).
Initially he held a doctorate in public law.
Later on he obtained a doctorate in international law.
He then became the President of the Harvard Society of International Law.
All these achievements ultimately led him to become the Adviser to President Nixon on Foreign Affairs and also the Deputy Director (for planning) of the US National Security Council.
He was considered to be one of the leading political experts in America.
He was also the founder of the Center for Civilization and Renewal in America.
He was a talented writer and also fluent in six ‘Living Languages’.
Of course, it is Allah who grants Hidayah (guidance) to people, thus Hidayah is an Allah-given gift, which He places in the heart of whomever He wants to give guidance. How Allah presents Hidayah to certain individuals is Allah’s secret.
One day, US President Nixon wanted to read about ISLAM, so he asked the American intelligence to prepare a research for him on that subject and indeed they carried out his orders, but their research was a bit long so he asked his advisor, Robert Nixon Crane, to read the research and summarize it for him.
Indeed, Robert read the research, and then went to attend Islamic seminars and lectures to learn more about the subject.
And only some days later the news of (Robert Crane) embracing Islam resounded throughout the entire United States of America!
He called himself FAROUQ ABDEL HAQ...
He said about the reason for his conversion to Islam:
“As a student of law, I found in Islam all the laws that I studied...Even during my study at Harvard University for 3 years, I did not find in their laws the word JUSTICE even once…however, I found this word frequently repeated in Islam...”
He embraced Islam in 1981 and named himself FAROUQ after the name of Hazrat UMAR-AL-FAROUQ, RadhiAllahu 'Anhu (may Allaah be pleased with him).
He also said:
“One day we were in a legal dialogue and one of the Jewish law professors was with us. He started talking and in his talk he started to delve into Islam and Muslims. Since I wanted to silence him, I asked him: Do you know the size of the inheritance law in the American Constitution?
He said: Yes, it’s more than Eight Volumes.
So I told him:
If I came to you with the Islamic law on inheritance which is no more than ten lines, would you believe that Islam is a true religion?
He said: This can't be.
So I came to him with verses of inheritance from the Noble Qur’an and presented them to him.
He came to me after several days and said to me regarding the verses of inheritance presented by Allah in the Noble Qur’an:
“A human mind cannot count all kinship relations with this comprehensiveness that does not forget anyone and then distributes the inheritance to them with this Justice that does not oppress anyone...”
Then this Jewish man also reverted to Islam!

He died in 2021 at the age of 92.
